Yoga
Yoga has been practiced for thousands of years. The word yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root yuj, meaning “to yoke,” or “to unite”. The practice aims to create union between body, mind and spirit, as well as between the individual self and universal consciousness. This practice will focus on bringing together body, mind and breath as a means of unblocking energy and shifting consciousness. Please inform us of any health conditions or injuries before booking.
If you have any medical conditions or metal in the body, please get in touch. This retreat is not suitable for anyone with heart conditions pacemakers, epilepsy, psychosis, or during pregnancy.
Breathwork
Pranayama and breathing techniques have been used for millennia. Dynamic Breathwork is an active form of breathing, using the breath to bypass thoughts and enter into a different state of awareness. This level of consciousness is what most people seek when practicing meditation; breathwork takes you to that place very quickly. The practice gives the brain's executive function something to focus on, so we can bypass the mental level of thought and drop into a deeper state of consciousness. This dynamic style of Breathwork is also the perfect way to prepare the vascular system for cold water swimming.
Cold water swimming
The health and psychological benefits of dipping in natural waters have long been known. Cold water creates intense vasodilation, pumping out muscle lactates, and bringing fresh blood to the extremities. Just 2 minutes in water below 10° is enough to bring these benefits. The Turks ad Romans understood this with their hot-cold plunge pools. A cold dip also provides a psychological kick start. Releasing powerful endorphins, and creating natural high bringing on intense feelings of well being. After regular swimming, it is clinically proven to boost mode, libido and the immune system. Cold water swimming is an excellent way to de-stress. like a form of mindfulness or meditation, bringing us into the moment, focusing the mind on physical sensations, and taking us away from worries and concerns..
Sound Baths
Gong and Sound Baths have been increasing in their popularity recently, with more and more people searching for ways to help themselves in a more natural way. Sound is extremely powerful and has been used as an effective tool for supporting health and wellbeing for thousands of years. A Sound Therapist creates specific sound frequencies and vibrations using a whole range of instruments; Gongs, Himalayan singing bowls, chimes, and rattles. These vibrations work at a cellular level to help the system to rebalance through releasing any blocked or dense energy, which might be holding the body in an unhealthy state. All you have to do is lie down, with blankets and pillows, get comfy, close your eyes and rest. As an experience many talk about being immersed in powerful waves of sound from all directions, which is why the treatment is known as a “Sound Bath.” People are often surprised and amazed at how physical a Gong/Sound Bath can feel, noticing sensations in different parts of their body, like tingling, pulsing, warmth or cool shivers. As well as physical sensations, the sounds from the Gong are known to induce a meditative state which in turn encourages the body’s self-healing system to kick in. Many have observed improvements in their quality of sleep, a better ability to cope with stress and over thinking and even pain relief from long term conditions. Some say that they experience clarity and insight while others enjoy the peace, stillness and relaxation that the gong space creates.
